There are so many amazing women in business, no matter the industry. However, we wanted to take some time to recognize the top 20 women in ecommerce this year. We took to Twitter to ask professionals who their favorite women in ecommerce were, and boy, did they deliver! We’ve got 20 amazing ecommerce business owners, marketers, writers, and so much more.
More than that, we also wanted to share some tips for those looking to get into the world of ecommerce. So without further ado, let’s get started.
4 Tips for Women in Ecommerce
Getting started in the world of ecommerce might feel daunting, especially when you see so many other amazing women in ecommerce. However, we all had to start somewhere. So we’ve put together four actionable tips to help.
1. Choose a product you’re passionate about.
Whether you’re planning to start your own ecommerce shop or you want to work in ecommerce marketing, choose a product to sell or work with that you really care about. Build your online store or search for ecommerce jobs in an industry that matters to you.
Not only will this make your job much more appealing, you’ll end up doing a better job at it as well because you actually care about the product.
2. Don’t be afraid to network.
Building your network in the ecommerce space is a great way to learn more, share your own knowledge, and meet even more people in the industry. There are so many different ways to go about this.
Go to events or conferences. Reach out to people online and ask to schedule a 30-minute virtual coffee date to talk about your backgrounds. Join online communities surrounding ecommerce so you can discover even more great women in ecommerce. Be active on social media so that you can build up your own community.
3. Never stop learning.
Read about the ecommerce space, stay up-to-date on trends, invest in online courses and coaching programs, and the like. Keeping yourself in-the-know with regards to your industry will help make sure you’re always ahead of the curve.
4. Create a healthy work/life balance.
We hope you love what you do. But that doesn’t mean you need to do it all of the time. Make sure to take breaks, create boundaries, and live your life while you’re not working or building your business.
Setting proper morning and after-work routines can be a great start. Make sure to take a lunch away from work so you can recharge mid-day. Don’t check work emails during set hours so that you can give yourself a brain break.
Having a healthy balance between your work and the life you lead will ensure you don’t end up burned out and unhappy with your job or business.
