There are currently two apps in the app stores that you could use for editing your GoPro videos. One is simply called the GoPro App. The more established app is GoPro Quik - Free Video Editor for photos, clips, music (although GoPro describes that as legacy software on its website). The GoPro App uploads your latest HERO and 360 footage and automatically edits your footage. You can use themes, music, and effects. You can control your GoPro from a distance, frame the perfect shot with live preview, get full remote control of camera functions, adjust settings, start and stop recording.

GoPro currently has two apps in the Google and iOS app stores that you could use for editing your GoPro videos. They call one app simply GoPro. Their arguably better-known app, however, is GoPro Quik – Free Video Editor for photos, clips, music. Although both are still available in the app stores, GoPro describes GoPro Quik as legacy software on its website.

The GoPro App lets you offload your latest HERO and 360 footage and start creating right away. It automatically edits your footage. You can use themes, music, and effects.

One of the more uncommon features of the GoPro app is the ability to control your GoPro from a distance. You can frame the perfect shot with live preview and get full remote control of camera functions. Easily adjust settings, start and stop recording, and more—all from your phone.

The app moves the latest footage from your camera to your phone, even when you’re off the grid.

Although GoPro automatically edits your videos, you still have some control. You can trim for the parts you want in your videos and cut out the rest. It includes simple, yet powerful editing tools. You can play with color, stickers and more.

The app lets you make amazing videos using 360 footage if you have a MAX or fusion camera. Use Reframe to experiment with infinite perspectives. Choose the best moments with the tap of a keyframe, and instantly create videos with cinematic transitions. Then get a traditional video you can share.

If you choose to go with the GoPro Quik app, you can also create awesome videos with just a few taps. Choose your favorite photos and video clips then let Quik work its magic. In seconds, it finds great moments, adds beautiful transitions and effects, and syncs everything to the beat of the music. Customize your story with text, music, and easily share it with friends. You can add up to 75 photos and video clips from your Gallery, Albums, Google Photos, Dropbox, GoPro Plus, or GoPro Quik Key.

Quik gets data from your GoPro footage (smile, faces, voices, cheering, speed, jumps, water, panoramic and steady footage) and analyzes your videos to select great moments. It detects faces and colors to frame each photo perfectly. Adjust the layout or interest point manually. You can choose from 23 themes, each with transitions and graphics.

With Quik, you can easily reorder, trim, and rotate photos and video clips. Personalize your story with text overlays and title slides. You can add the perfect soundtrack – choose from more than 100 free songs or use a song from your own collection.

Both apps allow you to create QuikStories —awesome videos made automatically with media shot within the last 72 hours. QuikStories downloads video from a camera to a connected phone, and cuts them together into an edited video, in time with music and effects.
