NOBULL made its name in CrossFit, where serious training, functional footwear, and a commitment to hard work helped the brand develop a loyal following. Its early appeal was straightforward. Build reliable training products, support the people putting in the work, and let performance speak for itself.
Today, NOBULL is reaching a much wider audience.
The company has brought Tom Brady into its ownership structure, partnered with professional sports organizations, and expanded its athlete roster to include everyone from CrossFit champions to Olympic swimmers and lifestyle personalities like Livvy Dunne.
Meanwhile, creators on TikTok and Instagram are introducing NOBULL footwear to consumers interested in walking, everyday comfort, and styling their sneakers as much as improving their workouts.
This expansion has created an interesting marketing challenge. How does a brand built around a relatively specialized fitness community introduce itself to mainstream consumers while retaining its original credibility?
This Brand Story examines NOBULL's development, its evolving athlete and influencer marketing strategy, and what our HypeAuditor analysis reveals about the creators introducing its products to new audiences. We'll also explore how that visibility connects to product discovery, purchase consideration, and broader commercial growth.

How NOBULL Built Its Brand Around CrossFit and Performance Training
NOBULL started with a fairly simple frustration about athletic marketing.
Founders Marcus Wilson and Michael Schaeffer had worked at Reebok, where Wilson led brand strategy and Schaeffer worked in creative leadership. Both had become familiar with an industry that frequently promised consumers better performance through its products.
They believed the person doing the training deserved more credit.
The pair began developing their business in 2012 and launched NOBULL in 2015. Its name reflected the philosophy behind the company. Progress comes from effort, preparation, and consistency.
CrossFit provided an ideal starting point.
Wilson had developed a strong personal connection to the community, including relationships with coaches such as Ben Bergeron. The sport also presented practical requirements for footwear. Athletes needed shoes capable of handling lifting, short runs, and demanding workouts involving different movements.
NOBULL's original trainers emphasized stable soles, minimalist styling, and durable materials such as SuperFabric.
These features gave coaches and experienced athletes something meaningful to discuss. Reviewers could demonstrate how the shoes performed during training and compare their construction with established alternatives.
Early appearances at CrossFit competitions helped establish recognition, eventually leading to NOBULL becoming the title sponsor of the CrossFit Games in 2021.
The approach gave the company a recognizable identity within a community where personal recommendations and demonstrated performance carried considerable weight.
How Mike Repole and Tom Brady Expanded NOBULL's Brand Strategy
By 2023, NOBULL had built substantial recognition in functional fitness, but the business was also experiencing operational difficulties.
That July, entrepreneur Mike Repole acquired a majority stake in the company.
Repole, known for building Vitaminwater and BodyArmor, saw potential in NOBULL's name, philosophy, and existing audience. He also believed the brand could appeal to considerably more people.
His ambition was to expand NOBULL beyond its close association with CrossFit and into broader categories such as walking, running, everyday training, and wellness.
Tom Brady became an important part of that development.
In January 2024, Brady's TB12 wellness business and BRADY apparel brand merged with NOBULL, making him the company's second-largest shareholder at the time.
The partnership added a recognizable sporting figure whose public identity was closely associated with training discipline, preparation, and longevity.
More importantly, it supported Repole's ambition to make NOBULL relevant to consumers across different activities and stages of life.
That shift also changed the company's marketing requirements. Reaching dedicated CrossFit athletes involved one kind of credibility. Reaching runners, recreational gym-goers, and people shopping for comfortable everyday footwear would require a much wider range of voices.
How NOBULL Uses Athlete and Influencer Partnerships to Reach New Audiences
NOBULL's expanding athlete roster offers a useful look at how the company approaches different consumer communities.
Its partnerships bring together elite competitors, fitness instructors, sports personalities, and creators whose audiences extend well beyond traditional training culture.
What makes this interesting is that the relationships serve different purposes.
Elite Athletes Reinforce NOBULL's Performance Credibility
Tom Brady is the most recognizable figure associated with NOBULL's transformation, although his ownership and strategic role make the relationship considerably broader than a conventional endorsement.
His reputation for preparation and long-term athletic performance aligns closely with the philosophy NOBULL established during its early years. Other athletes reinforce that connection through their own sporting accomplishments.
Nine-time Olympic gold medalist Caeleb Dressel brings credibility from competitive swimming, while CrossFit champions such as Katrรญn Davรญรฐsdรณttir connect the company's wider ambitions to the community that helped establish its reputation.
These relationships give NOBULL recognizable representatives across different sports while maintaining a consistent association with training and personal effort.
Fitness Personalities Connect NOBULL to Everyday Exercise
Robin Arzรณn's partnership offers a different kind of opportunity.
As Peloton's Head Instructor and Vice President of Fitness Programming, Arzรณn reaches people who incorporate training into their daily lives, including consumers who may have little interest in competitive CrossFit.
Announced in May 2025, her relationship with NOBULL was presented as a strategic partnership involving the brand's wider development.
Her work as an instructor, endurance athlete, and entrepreneur provides several contexts in which performance footwear can become relevant.
The same principle applies to coaches and hybrid athletes who regularly share workouts, training advice, and personal routines. These personalities can explain why particular product features matter in situations their followers already recognize.
Lifestyle Creators Introduce NOBULL to New Consumer Communities
Livvy Dunne represents another route into a broader market.
The former LSU gymnast has an established audience that extends across sports, social media, entertainment, and lifestyle content.
Her NOBULL partnership, announced in January 2026, connects the company's performance identity with consumers who may initially discover the brand through a personality they follow rather than through an interest in training equipment.
This matters because the motivations behind footwear purchases vary considerably.
An experienced weightlifter may prioritize stability and durability. Someone discovering the same company through lifestyle content might first notice its design, versatility, or everyday wearability. The brand can reach both audiences without requiring the same promotional message.
Sports Media and Organizations Extend NOBULL's Reach
NOBULL also works with organizations and media personalities that already have established sporting audiences.
Its roster includes former NHL player and media personality Paul Bissonnette, while Instagram analytics show recurring mentions from the popular hockey media account Spittin' Chiclets.
These relationships place the brand within conversations driven by sports commentary and entertainment.
Partnerships with organizations such as the NHL and LEGACY MOTOR CLUB offer another advantage: access to sporting environments where preparation, training, and teamwork are already central to the story.
Rather than relying exclusively on celebrity recognition, NOBULL can associate its products with the activities that support professional athletic performance.
How NOBULL Turns Sports Partnerships Into Social Media Content
A sports partnership becomes more valuable when it creates opportunities for people to encounter the product in situations that make sense.
NOBULL's agreement with the NHL, announced in October 2025, specifically illustrates this approach.
As the league's Official Training Shoe, NOBULL agreed to provide footwear to players, coaches, and staff across all 32 clubs. The partnership also includes marketing rights and opportunities for original content across the league's digital channels.
The placement is particularly relevant because hockey players spend considerable time training away from the ice. NOBULL's footwear can therefore appear in the preparation that supports the sport, rather than requiring an artificial connection to the game itself.
Its 2026 partnership with LEGACY MOTOR CLUB follows a similar idea, involving driver preparation, pit-crew training, and behind-the-scenes storytelling.

The company's content activity also extends into live fitness events. Coverage of HYROX Boston in 2025 included athlete interviews, brand experiences, and short-form social content produced by an external creative partner.

Another example came through NOBULL's collaboration with sneaker designer Dominic Ciambrone, known as The Surgeon, on Stanley Cup-inspired footwear.
That project brought sneaker design and fan participation into a sporting partnership, demonstrating how the brand can introduce its products through creative formats beyond conventional athlete endorsements.
How TikTok Creators Make NOBULL Shoes Relevant to Everyday Consumers
The contrast between NOBULL's professional-athlete partnerships and its TikTok product content is revealing.
While elite athletes establish performance credentials, many TikTok creators focus on questions consumers ask before buying footwear.
Some begin by highlighting a new colorway or attractive design. Others discuss comfort, breathability, and whether the shoes work for both exercise and daily wear. The Drive 2 frequently appears in content emphasizing colorful designs, cushioning, and versatility.

Creators also compare Mesh and Ripstop versions, explaining differences in breathability, material construction, and how the shoes feel during particular activities.
This gives viewers practical information that can make choosing between products easier.

Shopping-focused videos add another layer, with discount codes, product links, new-release announcements, and limited-stock messaging encouraging viewers to consider a purchase.
Longer reviews provide a useful counterbalance. Some experienced customers discuss durability and years of use, while others describe concerns about pricing, sizing, or the time required to break in certain models.
These different perspectives matter because footwear is a product people want to feel confident purchasing.
NOBULL benefits from appearing in creator conversations that address specific consumer needs, from selecting a training shoe to finding sneakers suitable for a long walk.
The available content demonstrates these recurring selling approaches, although it doesn't establish which individual videos generated the greatest sales or viral reach.
What Our HypeAuditor Analysis Reveals About NOBULL's Instagram Creator Network
NOBULL's official athlete roster provides one view of its marketing strategy. But how far does the surrounding conversation extend beyond those recognizable names?
To examine that question, we used HypeAuditor to analyze Instagram mentions of NOBULL from the past six months.
The analysis identified 943 posts from 428 creator accounts, revealing an ecosystem considerably larger than the company's official ambassador roster. Fitness remained the largest creator category, but the network also included lifestyle personalities, family-focused accounts, sports media, and other communities.
The size of those accounts is particularly interesting.
Among creators with an account-size classification, approximately three-quarters belonged to the nano- or micro-influencer categories.
That means much of the tracked participation came from relatively small accounts rather than exclusively from prominent athletes or celebrities.
The report also revealed different patterns of visibility.
Tom Brady led the modeled reach ranking, while smaller and more specialized accounts appeared more frequently. Fitness influencer Darryl Mason recorded 43 posts, co-founder Michael Schaeffer appeared in 37, and Jenna Foster contributed 27.
Reels accounted for 69.5% of tracked content, suggesting short-form video plays a substantial role in how NOBULL appears on Instagram.
HypeAuditor classified 527 posts as organic, 405 as likely sponsored, and 11 as sponsored. These classifications describe the report's assessment of content and shouldn't be interpreted as confirmed payment records.
The broader picture suggests that NOBULL's social presence combines the reach of recognizable personalities with repeated mentions from smaller creators across different communities.
How NOBULL Connects Influencer Marketing to Product Discovery and Sales
The commercial value of a creator partnership ultimately depends on what happens after someone encounters the brand. For NOBULL, several activities help connect visibility to purchasing opportunities.
TikTok creators use product links, promotional codes, and comparisons that give interested viewers a reason to investigate particular shoes.
The company has also developed affiliate and digital acquisition activity beyond conventional endorsements. Its work with Connexity, alongside recruitment for affiliate marketing roles, indicates investment in additional performance-oriented customer acquisition channels.
Physical events can contribute as well.
NOBULL has used QR-enabled experiences to connect gym and event participation with digital interactions, creating opportunities to extend a consumer's engagement beyond the original experience.
Meanwhile, its commercial leadership and retail ambitions suggest a continued effort to make products available to a wider audience.
These efforts connect brand visibility, product education, and opportunities to shop. However, the available evidence doesn't quantify how much revenue is directly attributable to individual creators, athletes, or campaigns.
What NOBULL's Athlete and Creator Strategy Reveals About Its Growth
NOBULL's approach makes more sense when viewed as an extension of its original brand rather than a complete departure from it.
The company built its early identity around serious training, giving it credibility with a demanding fitness audience. Its newer partnerships allow that identity to appear in more places.
Elite athletes reinforce the association with performance. Fitness instructors help explain products through practical routines. Sports organizations provide access to established communities, while lifestyle creators introduce footwear to consumers with different purchasing priorities.
Smaller creators add another layer by repeatedly discussing the products, answering common questions, and connecting recommendations to everyday experiences.
Together, these activities give NOBULL more ways to become familiar to prospective customers as it expands into new categories.
The challenge is maintaining the clarity of its original positioning while welcoming consumers whose definition of training may look very different from CrossFit. That balance will help determine whether NOBULL's expanding athlete and creator ecosystem can support lasting commercial growth.
