Kody Antle

Bio
Summary

Kody Antle is an animal trainer perhaps best known as the son of Doc Antle, an animal trainer and head of Myrtle Beach Safari, featured prominently in the Netflix docu-series “Tiger King.” Kody is nicknamed “real-life Tarzan.” He lives in South Carolina with his family and works as an animal trainer.

Career

Kody Antle was born on January 11, 1990. Not much is known about Kody’s family, aside from his father and his sister Tawny, who calls herself the Queen of the Jungle. His mother was allegedly killed in a crash decades ago, and not much is known about her.

Kody is the son of Doc Antle, who founded and directs The Institute for Greatly Endangered and Rare Species (T.I.G.E.R.S.). The wildlife park in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, was featured on the popular Netflix series “Tiger King,” and both Doc and his son, Kody, make appearances on the show. It came under fire for the harsh workplace conditions at the park.

As a result of his unique lifestyle, Kody has become popular on social media as an animal trainer. As of September 2021, Kody has more than 4.4 million Instagram followers, 27.8 million TikTok followers and 4,545 Twitter followers. He does not have an active YouTube page, or Facebook page.

Kody became popular online by posting photos and videos of wild animals from T.I.G.E.R.S. on Instagram and TikTok. He often refers to the animals as his family, as he was raised on the wildlife park and interacted with them growing up. Kody works at the wildlife park as a trainer now.

“I was really lucky I was born into this,” Kody says in an interview with AOL. “My father started the whole thing about 35 years ago with the animals, so I was just one of them born into the litter. I had tigers as my big sisters and brothers, and I had the elephant as my big sister growing up. And it’s just been a whole life filled with animals.”

Before Netflix’s “Tiger King” even aired, Kody had millions of followers on social media and had become known for his incredible videos with wild animals.

However, Kody has come under fire for his behavior with animals. T.I.G.E.R.S. has long been a target of wildlife activists for the type of park it is. Activists say Kody and his family are responsible for the suffering of many tigers in the U.S. with their wildlife park, which is meant to tame the wild animals and keep them enclosed for human experiences.
